NODE OPERATOR — RPC FUNDAMENTALS

Anyone can read a public server. Operating a validator is a different, verified role and this product does not assign that title. Here you learn server_info and why a provider outage is not a protocol conclusion. Optional reading: https://xrplcluster.com/ as an example public cluster with multiple transports and health probes. Terry does not own it. Prefer verifying network via server_info. Never treat infrastructure failure as a protocol miss.

First learning experience: no wallet connect, no seed, no Mainnet write. Built using XRP Ledger-native APIs. Independent community project. No endorsement implied.

SHORT LESSONS

  1. 01

    Public servers have external operators

    Devnet and Testnet URLs in this Club come from the XRPL.org public-servers list. Terry does not own those hosts. Live mode pins one network; same-network peer retries are allowed later, but never a silent hop to the other learning network.

  2. 02

    server_info describes the server, not your identity

    Fields such as server_state and validated_ledger tell you what that process currently believes. They do not enroll you as a validator and they do not prove Mainnet liveness.

  3. 03

    Retry the same request after an outage

    If the chosen network’s host(s) fail, the state is RPC UNAVAILABLE — not an answer from the other learning network. Reset and retry. Reviewing a fixture is allowed so you can still finish the lesson without inventing a ledger fact.

READ-ONLY DEVNET EXERCISE

Exact request below. Live mode uses Devnet first, then Testnet. Fixture mode is reproducible evidence for completion when RPC is down. Neither mode signs or submits.

EXACT XRPL REQUEST

  "method": "server_info",
  "params": [
    {}

}

Relevant response fields: info.server_state, info.validated_ledger.seq, info.validated_ledger.hash, info.build_version.

EVIDENCE

NOT EVALUATED

Not evaluated is the empty starting state. It is not not found (a look that returned absence) and not RPC unavailable (a look that could not be completed).

LEDGER HASH

EXPAND PIN + CONTEXT

Provider none · method server_info · additional states none. RPC unavailable is not not-found and not a freeze.

WHAT THIS PROVES

You can read server_info on a labeled learning network and tell provider failure apart from actNotFound/txnNotFound.

WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE

This does not prove you operate a validator, a reliable node, or Mainnet infrastructure. This product will not call you a Validator.

Official docs (supplemental): XRPL.org: public servers. Explorers are not a substitute for knowing which JSON-RPC host you queried.

OPTIONAL COMMUNITY NOTE

Text only, stored in this browser. Not an NFT, not a credential, not published to the ledger.
