PATH 01 · NOT STARTED
NEWCOMER — XRPL BASICS
The XRP Ledger is a shared record of accounts and transactions. A public JSON-RPC method named ledger can return the latest validated ledger. Validated means consensus already agreed on that ledger. This path never asks for a seed and never connects a wallet.
First learning experience: no wallet connect, no seed, no Mainnet write. Built using XRP Ledger-native APIs. Independent community project. No endorsement implied.
SHORT LESSONS
01
A ledger pin is an index plus a hash
When Terry or any client says it read the ledger, it should name the ledger_index and ledger_hash it used. Those two values let someone else ask the same public method and compare.
02
Validated is not the same as current-in-flight
ledger_index: "validated" asks for a closed, agreed ledger. Open or current ledgers can still change. Club exercises use validated so the pin is reproducible.
03
Reading is not writing
A ledger lookup does not create an account, a trustline, or a token. It does not sign. If the public server is down, that is RPC unavailable — not proof the ledger is empty.
READ-ONLY DEVNET EXERCISE
Exact request below. Live mode uses Devnet first, then Testnet. Fixture mode is reproducible evidence for completion when RPC is down. Neither mode signs or submits.

EVIDENCE
NOT EVALUATED
Not evaluated is the empty starting state. It is not not found (a look that returned absence) and not RPC unavailable (a look that could not be completed).

EXPAND PIN + CONTEXT
Provider none · method ledger · additional states none. RPC unavailable is not not-found and not a freeze.
WHAT THIS PROVES
You can read a validated ledger index and hash from a public Devnet or Testnet JSON-RPC endpoint.
WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE
This does not prove Mainnet balances, issuer quality, or that you operate a server. It does not create a wallet or a credential.
Official docs (supplemental): XRPL.org: ledger method. Optional: look up the same ledger index on a network-appropriate explorer. Explorers are supplemental, not the ledger.
OPTIONAL COMMUNITY NOTE
Text only, stored in this browser. Not an NFT, not a credential, not published to the ledger.
