INVESTIGATOR — TRANSACTION PROOF

A transaction hash is a 64-character hex id. The tx method returns that transaction if the server has it. txnNotFound means this server's history does not have that hash — not that “the money vanished,” and not that the hash is a secret.

First learning experience: no wallet connect, no seed, no Mainnet write. Built using XRP Ledger-native APIs. Independent community project. No endorsement implied.

SHORT LESSONS

  1. 01

    Hash in, receipt fields out

    Useful fields include TransactionType, Account, Destination, meta.TransactionResult, and meta.delivered_amount. Requested Amount is not always what was delivered.

  2. 02

    Destination tags are addressing, not vibes

    If an account requires a destination tag, payments without one can fail. TAG REQUIRED means that requirement (or an encoded tag) was observed. It is not a theft proof.

  3. 03

    Not found is a protocol answer

    txnNotFound is NOT FOUND. A downed public server is RPC UNAVAILABLE. Do not write “the ledger rejected this payment” when you only had a timeout.

READ-ONLY DEVNET EXERCISE

Exact request below. Live mode uses Devnet first, then Testnet. Fixture mode is reproducible evidence for completion when RPC is down. Neither mode signs or submits.

EXACT XRPL REQUEST

{
  "method": "tx",
  "params": [
    {
      "transaction": "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF",
      "binary": false
    }
  ]
}

Relevant response fields: hash, ledger_index, tx_json.TransactionType, meta.TransactionResult, meta.delivered_amount.

EVIDENCE

NOT EVALUATED

Not evaluated is the empty starting state. It is not not found (a look that returned absence) and not RPC unavailable (a look that could not be completed).

LEDGER INDEX

LEDGER HASH

unavailable

EXPAND PIN + CONTEXT

Provider none · method tx · additional states none. RPC unavailable is not not-found and not a freeze.

WHAT THIS PROVES

You can call tx with an exact hash and classify found, not found, or provider unavailable.

WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE

A fixture or Testnet hash does not prove a Mainnet payment. delivered_amount: unavailable is not the requested Amount.

Official docs (supplemental): XRPL.org: tx method. Explorers may index the same hash. Use them as a second window, not as the RPC.
